Story
In August 2017, I'll be trekking over 83km along the Larapinta Trail to show how gutsy I really am. I'm raising funds for the GI Cancer Institute and I know first-hand how important their clinical trials are.
GI (gastro-intestinal) cancer affects the oesophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bowel. Every 45 minutes an Australian dies because of GI cancer and over 24,000 are affected every year. The five year survival rate is just 49%.
I've been diagnosed twice with Gastro Intestinal Stomach Tumor (GIST) and I have been through some tough treatment and surgery. Most of my stomach has been removed, as well as part of my intestine. This is a very invasive and hard to cure cancer, I'm very fortunate mine was discovered early. I am doing this challenge to help provide fundrasing which is very much in need, to help people who have this disease now, and in the future. My goal is to defeat GI cancer, making it a manageable disease, and ultimately a disease of the past.
Help me to reach the finish line and to give Australians living with GI cancer better treatments by donating today. All donations over $2 are tax-deductible.
Thank you for your support
