Story
Hi all
In August 2017, I'll be trekking over 83km along the Larapinta Trail to raise much needed funds for gastro-intestinal (GI) cancer research. As a medical oncologist and clinician researcher, I know how important clinical trials are for my patients and the funds raised will go to the GI Cancer Institute to assist with clinical trials in Australia.
GI cancer affects the oesophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bowel. Every 45 minutes an Australian dies because of GI cancer and over 24,000 are affected every year. The five year survival rate is just 49%.
I am doing this challenge to help people who have this disease now, and in the future. My goal is to help defeat GI cancer, making it a manageable disease and ultimately a disease of the past.
All donations over $2 are tax-deductible and will give people living with GI cancer better treatments.
Please help me to get to the finish line by donating today!
GI Cancer Institute (Australasian Gastro-Intestinal Trials Group)
Gastro-Intestinal (GI) cancer is the most common form of cancer claiming a devastating 51 lives each day. At the GI Cancer Institute, our vision is to create a world free from GI cancers. It is thanks to the support of the community that we are able to fund vital clinical trials research to improve quality of life and treatment options for GI cancer patients. GI cancers affect the digestive system and includes cancers of the stomach, oesophagus, gallbladder, liver, pancreas, stomach and bowel and anus. Thank you for your support.
